Licence summary

If you operate or are planning to operate a food premises you may need to be approved by your local authority, Derry City Council's Environmental Health Department, Council Offices, 98 Strand Road, Derry Tel: 028 71365151 Fax: 028 71266009, email: [email protected]

Examples of the types of premises which are required to be approved by Derry City Council are stand alone (ie not attached to a slaughter house, cutting plant or game handling establishment) and which produce any, or any combination, of the following items:

  • mince meat
  • meat preparations
  • mechanically separated meat
  • meat products
  • live bivalve molluscs
  • fishery products
  • dairy products
  • egg products
  • frogs' legs
  • snails
  • edible co-products (including rendered animal fats and greaves, treated stomachs, bladders and intestines, gelatine and collagen).
  • also includes certain cold stores and wholesale markets

You should contact the Council to see if you require approval.
